Revi karunakaran museum located at the Venice of east, absolutely dedicate for the great person and businesses man mr. revi karunakaran by the family of him. the museum is situated at the national highway 47 passing through alappuzha. He was a great man who dedicated his life to grow the coir industry and the life of peoples in alappuzha. it shows the private properties belongs to him and also the traditional objects of kerala. alappuzha has the tradition of coir industry, the first coir factory named darag ismail was founded at alappuzha in 1859, the vayalar in alappuzha is known as coir village. the ivory collection are the highlight of the museum. here we can the equality of religions in India through the mural paintings presented here.
It considered as the one of the largest ivory collection in india. in the courtyard there ua s large collection of stone sculptures with stone and a beautiful pond filled with lotus, beautiful garden also. The rare collection of tanjaore paintings are also present here, it counted as more than fourty. there is another section for hosting world’s largest private collection of swarvosky crystals. after the death of revi karunakaran his wife took initiative to show the large collection for public and inaugurated in 22nd november in 2006 by the former mehgalaya governor sri M. M Jacob.
Revi karunakaran museum is spread over an area of 28,000 square feet. it will open for the visitors daily from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. International Air Port is at Nedumbassery, near Aluva, about 90 kms away from alappuzha. the railway station at alappuzha located 4 km away from here and this is the coastal line connecting ernakulam via kayamkulam. the bus stand situated at the heart of the city and the water transport ways also available. the boat jetty is close to the KSRTC stand.
