Mattuppetty dam is the first concrete dam in kerala, which situated near to anamudi peak. it located 100 feet above from sea level, the dam is a storage gravity dam built along with mountains at idukki. the dam is constructed as the part of pallivasal hydro electric project in periyar river. the primary aim of mattupetty is to conserve water and supply the water to near places. there is also a lake with this dam which provides boating in the dam. district tourism promotion council arranges the boating in the lake. tea plantations are the one of the attraction of mattuppetty.
