Iringal is a beautiful tourist spot in kerala located at kozhikode, is commonly known as the craft village of kerala. it established as the tourist spot since 2010 by the government of kerala which maintained by the uralungal labour contract co-operative limited. the hand craft technique is termed as sargalaya, for promoting the handcraft techniques which evolved traditionally in kerala. the villagers make a beautiful variety of objects which are more suitable for the exhibition.
the tourism village of the iringal is well arranged there are 27 cottages located along with the village, that extremely made for art work which is well established one in kerala by the authority of kerala. more than 100 artisans are working at the village for making the traditional hand crafts. The products of the village is really wondering the peoples all around the world, this is the result of the effort took by the artisans in the village. the beautiful spot sargalaya is located at the banks of chaliyar river which spread an area about 20 acres.
the products which made from the cheap natural raw materials includes the fiber of banana, green bamboo, coconut shell, palm leaves, coconut leaves etc in the sargalaya. iringal is the birth place of kunjali marakkar The village srgalaya is daily open for the visitors except monday and other holidays from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. the products of the iringal sragalya is world famous. exhibition for displaying the products will conduct every year at the village. artisans from all around the world will b take part at the festival of iringal sargalaya. vadakara is the nearest city having both the railway station and bus station, it connect to the destination via NH 66. the road also connect to the nearest airport at calicut which is 65 km way.
