Eravikulam national park is one of the popular national park among the five national parks in kerala. ervikulam is the first national park in kerala which established in 1978. it sprawling an area about 97 sq km. idukki having the highest number of national parks in kerala and it is also situated in idukki district. mathikettan shola, pambadum shola and anamudi shola are the remaining parks in idukki and the the fifth one is silent valley which located in palakkad district. eravikulam national park is the only national which got a position in UNESCO world heritage list. eravikulam national park is located along with western ghats in idukki district. the park is famous for nilgiri tahrs which scientifically known as haila tragus.
The main aim of the park is to save the nilgiri thars which surviving very well in the park. it also includes many flaura and fauna. neelakurinji flowers last bloomed in 2006. there are many tea plantations which attracts the tourists very well. the spot is ideal spot for trekking but the pre-booking Eravikulam national park munnar is necessary for trekking. the trekking is starting from munnar wildlife tourism office. there will must pay rupee 1200 for a mass trekking in the park but the foreigners must pay 1500 rupee for the trekking. the view point from the hills offers a best view to tea plantations.
