Aruvikkara dam is one of the main irrigation project in kerala which built across the river karamana, located 12 km away from trivandrum. the city is located at the banks of karamana. the reservoir and the garden are the prime attraction of the dam. boating is the tourist activity occupied here. a temple is located adjacent to the dam which is dedicated to durga. which is built on a rock. peoples reach here not only to enjoy the beauty of dam and river but also for having blessings from devi matha. the river is spread over an area of 16b km of northern trivandrum which supplies water for the peoples of trivandrum especially for farming and drinking.
There is also a stream can be seen very close to the temple which occupies many fishes, however trivandrum is blessed with many waterfalls, streams, water parks, beaches, temples etc. the dam is located within the green lush. the water of the reservoir is the only source of drinking water in trivandrum. there is many type of boating avilable in the dam. the charges may be varied according to the type of boat you select for riding. there is also a beautiful garden which gives a warm welcome for you to enjoy the dam and surroundings.
You can easily reach at the destination because it is located close to the trivandrum, if you visit the place you can do many things at a time, because it offers a pilgrimage center and a tourist place too. trivandrum central railway station is the nearest railway station and is a major one which is 15 km away from the destination. there is 20 km travel needed to reach the nearest airport trivandrum via pulimoodu- panacode road.
