Anchuruli is the tourist attraction relate with the the catchment area of idukki arch dam. idukki arch dam is the highest dam in kerala and the first arch dam in Asia. the dam is built over the water flow of periyar in idukki, located between two hills named kuravan and kurathi, this kind of feature is very rare in kerala. Anjuruli is actually a circular vessel and like a tunnel to carries the water from erattayar dam to the reservoir of idukki arch dam. anjuruli means the five vessels in malayalam. anchuruli tunnel is 4 km long, it situated at kanchiyar village of idukki district.
anchuruli tunnel is located 700 meter from the sea level. it is the extension of idukki arch dam.
anjuruli is located along with the western ghat hill regions. there is a geographical feature is surrounds with the name of the place. the name derived from the five small hills visible in water when the water level become low the hills look like the inverted vessel with little water of it. anjuruli waterfalls is a popular waterfall belong to this region. the hilly region is blessed with evergreen tropical forest, semi evergreen forest and the grass lands lies in the western ghats.
